TianyuMfg swage-on frac hose adopts new crimped methods to significantly reduce the product weight and production cost, the finished frac hose is much more flexible than the vulcanized frac hose with built-in fittings. This frac hose uses Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene in its inner tube structure. It provides you with excellent resistance against corrosion, abrasion to meet your various fracking requirements.

What’s frac hose?

Frac hose is available in different types for various applications, it mainly includes below applications:
  • High-Pressure Frac Hose: This type of frac hose features high pressure and high-performance abrasion resistance. It works best for conveying fracturing fluid from the blender to the frac pumps at the fracturing wellsite.

Improper selection of the frac hoses and the fittings may cause serious damage or injuries in the wellsite frac applications to your crews. You need also note that the frac hoses are also subject to degrade over time and need appropriate routine inspection and maintenance. In order to increase the frac hose service life and reduce downtime, it is quite necessary to discuss some criteria questions with your frac hose manufacturer to get the right product. They are mainly:

  • Size:
  • What inside diameter of frac hose is required?
  • What’s the required outer diameter?
  • How long is required of a frac hose?
  • Any specific requirement on the overall length including fittings?
  • Temperature
  • What’s the temperature of the product being conveyed?
  • What temperature will the external cover be subject to?

There are various types of fittings available for frac hoses as per specific applications and your requirements. The most common fittings are:

After selection of the appropriate frac hoses, proper operations and routine maintenance are also critical in extending your frac hoses lifetime. There are some dos and don’ts that need to be taken care of during your daily operations.
  • Request quality products and make sure all necessary technical info is stamped on the product.
  • Know the limits of temperature, working pressure, and compatibility of your frac hose and fittings, never operate a hose towards its highest recommended working pressure while at or near its maximum temperature range.
  • When you are not ready to use the frac hose, do keep it in a cool, dark, and clean place. Never store your frac hoses in places exposed to heat, direct sunlight, or humidity.
  • Do regular testing and inspection on your frac hoses to check if any gouges, bulges. Never use your frac hoses in permanent, non-visible locations.
  • Inspect consistently and regularly the fittings as well to make sure they are working without any leakage, loose parts, corrosion, or any other deformities. In case of any, consult the technician or manufacture for possible repair work or replacement of new hoses.
  • Bend your frac hoses naturally. Never crush a hardwall or bend it with an unreasonable twist
  • Handle your frac hoses with care during installation and operation. Never drag it over sharp or abrasive surfaces or pull by the ends. The abrasion is the most common cause of hose failure in the oilfield.
  • Over 90% of all hose failures come from the outer cover outside instead of media being conveyed inside.
  • The tighter you bend your frac hose, the more vulnerable that hose becomes once pressurized.
  • Temperature influences strongly the working pressure of your frac hose. While the temperature goes up, the recommended working temperature goes down.
  • A surge above the maximum working pressure of your frac hose shall never be allowed.
  • The most vulnerable and weakest place of the hose is typically the connection part of the hose and its fittings.
